Sorrow and Bliss
Planning on tearing through Sorrow and Bliss by Meg Mason this weekend. Funny, a bit snarky, *and* poignant, this book boasts a front blurb by Ann Patchett: “While I was reading it, I was making a list of all the people I wanted to send it to, until I realized that I wanted to send it to everyone I know.” So far, I’m sensing some big Allison Pearson and Maria Semple vibes, so just like my pal Ann, I thought I’d recommend it to you too. (I’m especially recommending it to my friend @a.sellner.art, whose work provides the background here.)
PS: Fun fact…I know the author’s in-laws! They have since returned to Sydney, but John Mason was the minister of the church we attended while living in NYC, and now I get to witness some beautiful Australian scenery via Facebook thanks to his wife, Judith. 🐨🇦🇺🌺
