It Appears That Celebrities and Wedding Guests Love Books
Is giving books out as wedding favors an awesome idea? Yes, yes, it is. (Thanks, Holly, for sharing this article with me!) Couples having a “book bar,” couples creating book centerpieces, couples giving out books to each guest. I love it all. Especially because — to paraphrase the subhed — if books appeal to celebrities, then they will certainly appeal to your wedding guests. 😎🤔
But is giving out fortune cookies placed in individual containers hand-fashioned by your future spouse using toothpicks and funky paper from Paper Source an awesome idea? In my sentimental book (ba-dum), even more so. (Wish I could find a picture of Matt’s masterpieces, but alas, all I can find is the “fortune,” but I suppose that’s the best part anyway. And btw, yes of course, this was in the prime of the Martha Stewart Weddings magazine bonanza. #Y2K)
{Not pictured is the one book-related favor that I have, actually, received at a wedding. It was for someone who is now a very well-known novelist; her and her husband’s favors were retro-styled bookmarks emblazoned with a snappy “If you love books so much, why don’t you marry them?”} #WeddingSzn
