The Days of Abandonment

On the back of this book — The Days of Abandonment by Elena Ferrante — a blurb by Mona Simpson states, “[Ferrante] is the Italian Alice Munro.” But my first thought upon reading this novel was: Elena Ferrante is for sure the Italian Carol Shields.

{I inexplicably own almost all of Ferrante’s books, but this is the first I’ve read! Highly recommend if you’re a fan of Carol Shields or, ok, Alice Munro too…}
