But of course North Woods by Daniel Mason is its own thing (as all books are). Just…if you needed some vibey-comparisons, there’s my take. There’s a reason this book is on oodles of “best of 2023” lists.

Who will remember you when you no longer inhabit this earth? What kind of story will be told of you? How are you connected to those before and after? Big questions burrowed in a super engaging story about a patch of woods in Western Massachusetts and the house — and people — among it.
