Valentine’s is for Readers
Matt and I are two months into our “let’s read a book together” experiment. (See posts from 12/27 and 12/30.) And despite “not being a reader,” he is a good 100 pages ahead of me in The Overstory by Richard Powers. (It’s 500 pages long.)
Here’s my initial report. 1) AMAZING book. Some people had warned me that it can be tedious in the beginning and hard to get into. I know this is all po-tay-toe/po-tah-toe, but that has not been the case for either of us. 2) Matt has started underlining. (I’m a serial book-underliner, if I own the copy. The book has just that many good lines. 3) One sub-plot involves a middle-aged couple who read together. 🤔4) Matt’s initial thoughts: “I am totally engaged while reading this. When I’m reading, I can’t put it down.” Straight from the mouth of a “non-reader,” my friends.
So there’s a quick Valentine’s Day update for you. Today is also International Book Giving Day, so how about spread some love and share a book with someone?
